The Locker Room with P.C.P. (Phillips, Cash & Perez)
Phillips, Cash & Perez discuss relevant local and national sports headlines as well as interview prominent individuals from sports.
My radio career started by hosting a weekly sports show in HAZLET, NEW JERSEY on “SOLID GOLD WCNJ” 89.9 FM in 1995. At the same time I was hired to provide my voice for voice-over work for RESEARCH EDUCATION ASSOC. in New Brunswick, NJ. English as a second language for businessmen from Europe & Asia.
I moved to Las Vegas in 1997. Since then I have done Public Service Announcements for KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL and THE FOUNDATION FOR POSITIVELY KIDS in Las Vegas.
Sports came knocking again. I had the opportunity to provide color commentating for JR. GOLDEN GLOVES BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS in Mesquite, NV, July 2008. I was part of a new team that launched “THE SPORTS ZOO” sports-talk radio show on KLAV-1230AM in Las Vegas from October 19th, 2008-September 26, 2009.
The opportunity came to have "THE SPORTS ZOO" air on the local Fox Sports affiliate on FOX SPORTS RADIO 920-KBAD, LAS VEGAS from September 26th 2009-February 2010.
While final production was wrapping on The Sports Zoo, Ricky Cash & I started developing a new show idea about keeping Las Vegas in a positive light by talking about all that Las Vegas offers but not on The Strip. The kind of things that would make you say, "I DIDN'T KNOW THAT ABOUT LAS VEGAS?"
On March 13th, 2009 Vegas Unwrapped Internet Radio Show debuted and in 2010 became VEGAS UNWRAPPED PRODUCTIONS, LLC.
I was recently the play by play voice of the Vegas Kings Minor League Football Team, Part-time announcer for the Fabulous Sin City Roller Girls, Co-host and producer for the Tony Martini: My 50 Year Journey Show, Co-Producer for A House Party Tonight with Don Hill, co-emceed the Stop Child Trafficking Now Walk-A-Thon, Relay for Life and more. In 2013 Cash & I also added Beauty Pageants to our resumes as we were co-emcees, broadcasted pageants on the internet or interviewed them on the show.
I am also the author for Bandwidth Banter which is my blog about the "ins and outs" and my experiences about Internet Radio. It can be found at www.bandwidthbanter.net.
We hope you enjoy the "info-tainment" we provide and are open to your comments and suggestions.
Closing in on 68 years young, this opportunity presented itself to me almost four years ago when my best friend Aaron Phillips, finally agreed to co-host a show about Las Vegas and unwrap this town from top to bottom. It sounded like a sure bet to me.
My background has been a combination of Education and Sales and it has literally come full circle from my first teaching job in 1968 through this brand new year 2013. Only now I'm educating the general public about the Las Vegas most people don't know exists.
Vegas Unwrapped has given me the opportunity to meet and become friends with people in entertainment, sports, communications, and authors that I would have never have had a chance in securing great relationships. I've had plenty of writing experience on my own as a contributing member to a number of sports blogs and other communication outlets. In the past four years I've actually had over two million listeners hear my thoughts, opinions and observations on a wide assortment of what's happening in today's hectic world.
I've had the pleasure of co-hosting a show with Toni Martini, who is celebrating over 50 years in the entertainment industry, as well as doing another show with the legendary saxophone genius, 90+ year old Don Hill from The Treniers. Also along with that partner of mine, Aaron Phillips, we were the broadcast team for the Vegas Kings minor league football team in it's quest for a national championship. Not too shabby at all.
I have been here in Las Vegas since December 1994 and although I might like to retire I will never willingly leave the "Radio Business". Personally people say that the third time is a charm and with Kami by my side I definitely got it right this time, She knows a celebrity when she sees one. In fact I've got her hooked on becoming a radio personality as well.
There are so many new and exciting happenings with Vegas Unwrapped Productions and I'm really excited that 2013 will be breakout year for Phillips and Cash. Our hope for this year is to secure enough financing to have our own Internet Radio Station where we can continue not only Vegas Unwrapped the show, but Vegas Unwrapped the production company as well. We've added Partner, Bill Miller and Sales Executive Paige "Elvis" Poole into the Vegas Unwrapped family as we continue to grow.
J. Leigh our medium and show prognosticator says that 2014 will be our best year yet and I never doubt the word of my psychic daughter. I only wish she would give me some winning teams at the sports book.
Stay on top of what's going on in and around Las Vegas with Aaron Phillips and yours truly Ricky Cash. You can also find me on Facebook, Twitter and maybe by the end of the year on the cover of Las Vegas Weekly Magazine now that they took my picture down from the Post Office.
